Empire state of mind

On rare occasions like today; we feel this way – happy to be part of this big city that never sleeps. While our childhoods were spent in a far far away land somewhere in Eastern Europe; our teenage years and adulthood were spent here; two words so totally different from each other yet both so dear to our hearts. We sometimes forget that we live in such a wonderful and magical city; when you stop and take a breath, look at the lights, feel the energy – you realize that you’re part of something great. Something that fills our hearts with happiness, sense of accomplishment and love.
As we are downloading photos from today’s wedding on one of the rooftops in Manhattan; we decided to share this photo. We took a little break toward the end of the night and a self portrait. We are happy to be where we are at. Inspired not only by the lights and the city but by the wonderful people we meet here.

Portrait session of Jacob

It is an incredible feeling that one day you meet total strangers and then get the opportunity to be present at some of their biggest events of life; it’s beyond words how honored we feel to be let into people’s lives and become friends. We met Michael and Johanna shortly before their wedding. Long story short; we have now been part of Johanna’s baby shower, her baby bump session and Jacob’s First Birthday Party. Not only that but we have been documenting Jacob’s first year – meeting with them every three months for a session of the little man. Wow, as an outsider you get to observe a family grow; from love of two people to the birth of their first child; seeing the joy Jacob puts on Michael and Johanna’s face is just something amazing. Thank you for allowing us to be witness to all this. It’s a lovely.

South Asian Weddings | Priya and Mel

They booked us over the phone as Priya and Mel live in London.   Came to meet us just over a month ago and we knew we’re just right for each other!   They are incredibly sweet, warm people and it was a delight to be part of their traditional Indian wedding.    Their family and guests made us feel just like we’re home.    Mel’s mom told me all about Indian condiments and spices [and for anybody that knows us - we looooooove Indian food and if we could we'll eat it every day], btw.  no doubt the food was delicious.

The wedding was held in the picturesque Vernon NJ in Minerals Spa which is part of Cristal Springs Resort with an outside ceremony and a party like there’s no tomorrow.      Priya and Mel looked splendid in their traditional Indian attire as well as in their western outfits for reception.   What can we say, again?  We feel truly honored to have, yet another wonderful couple like the two of you!   Oh and our friend Sebastian helped us and rocked on getting incredible shots!

Tappan Hill Mansion Wedding | Jennie + Adam

Jennie and Adam had an outdoor Jewish Ceremony at the Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown NY.   The weather was just perfect, and the whole gang sure knows how to throw a party, crazy fun dancing and singing and we enjoyed being right in the middle of everything.    Thanks to our friend  Gulnara for helping us out that day.

WPJA contest results
